This week staff training for Upward Bound has started, with the first day our Resident Life training. I was in charge of planning the day and the first portion of the day was entitled Mub it to Flub it, which was replicants of some of the games found on Minute to Win It. I won't go over the games in depth unless someone wants me to, but let's just say there was an abundance of laughter and amazingness, so just take these pictures "as is".
Thrifting Around
posted by Matt
Mullen and I went out thrift shopping because we were at a loss at what we actually wanted to do. I knew there were some ice trays that I wanted at Goodwill, and it was a nice chance to finally meet Katie instead of awkwardly only kind of knowing her. We started with the Hands of Hope Thrift...
P-Town, P-Funk
posted by Matt
P-Town, P-Funk involves a random excursion down to the Portland area with a story wrapped in 90s flashback boat parties, rich islands, sketchy bathrooms, geocaching, George Clinton, aliens, and flatbread!
Memorial Day 2011

Memorial Day 2011 was a fantastic day in the sun. We had gone to Ellsworth for other purposes, but they were closed, so we thought we'd make the best of it, bought some bathing suits (that's where the mannequin was), and headed to Bah Bahbah! We spent the day in the sun, swimming, snacking, and loving life! It was a pretty phenomenal day!
Nikita’s Graduation
posted by Matt
Yesterday my very wonderful friend Nikita graduated! Woohoo! Later in the day there was a party at the waterfront in Lincoln, ME, and all gathered to celebrate with friends, family, and cake (even a red velvet one because I was graduated as well!). It was a pretty great time overall and got some nice photos!
Robyn & Kills

I was very sick when I went to this concert, and I almost decided against going. Boy, am I glad I ended up going, it was one of the best shows I have ever experienced. First, Natalia Kills was phenomenal, just as good as I could have imagined. The only thing that sucked is her set was so...
Halloween 2010

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all time. Sadly, this year, I didn’t have time to decorate (I usually go all out), but it was the first time most everyone who came dressed up! I was a contestant from Legends of the Hidden Temple (google it if you don’t know – it’s...
The Corn Maize
posted by Matt
Every year we visit the corn maze in Levant, Maine. Sometimes we have more or less people (Beth, Caitlin, and I are always part of the core). This year was awesome because we had the biggest group we have ever had : Nikita, Chelsea, Will, Caitlin, Beth, Dave, and myself. I was happy to see so many of us come out. Basically, each year the people at Treworgy Farms plows their corn in a shape (this year it was a rabbit). There are trivia questions that you have to answer, and at the end of it all you get a free ice cream (some of the best, in my opinion). Great day with great...
Bonfire Amigos

Going to Amanda’s is always a great time. We were having a bonfire for Nikita’s birthday (and Ron) – this was actually after I left for a long ride back from Millinocket (from Angela’s wedding). Ryan decided to show up soon after, which made it quite an awesome party...
Angela’s Wedding
posted by Matt
Angela is the friend whom I have had the longest in this great life of mine. We grew up together and had the best of times together in high school (actually they were some of the only good times, besides Upward Bound), so it was great being a park of her wedding this summer (I was a groomsman). The pictures span the few days from parking lot photos at the hotel to the reception hall and up to her camp (where the wedding happened). I think some of the photos came out really...
A Dinner Out
posted by Matt
At the end of the summer at Upward Bound we have a banquet for the Bridge students (students who will attend college in the fall). It is normally held at the Penobscot County Country Club. It's a pretty nice venue, so I snapped a few shots of us all looking swanky along with a few dinner shots.
Off to Vermont

This summer, Nikita and I went camping with her family. It was a pretty good time, though I am not a huge fan of sleeping in a tent and waking up to frosty conditions, but still had a good time. We did some geocaching. One morning I woke up and there was a slug pretty much right in front of...
